Kev was a little kiwi with rosy cheeks. He lived in a burrow beneath a huge tree. He was sweet, cheerful, and a little sleepy. He loved to play and eat—munch, munch! He also loved doing nothing. And he did it very carefully. Whenever something seemed hard, Kev came up with an excuse.
Kev era un kiwi pequeño de mejillas rosadas. Vivía en una madriguera bajo un árbol enorme. Era dulce, alegre y un poquito dormilón. Le encantaba jugar y comer: ¡ñam, ñam! También le gustaba no hacer nada. Y lo hacía con mucha atención. Cuando algo parecía difícil, Kev buscaba una excusa.

One morning, Kev saw his toys on the floor. His red ball, blue stick, and smooth stone lay there. “I’ll put them away after breakfast,” he said. After breakfast, he gave a big yawn. “Maybe after my nap.” Plop! A yellow piece of paper appeared. Kev stared at it, then left it in the corner.
