Nico the snail was always the last to reach the lake. The deer and rabbits raced off to watch the sunrise. Tap, tap, tap! Nico watched them disappear. “I wish I had little legs like theirs,” he sighed. Then he looked at his tummy. “But… would I look cute with little legs?” He smiled a little, but inside, he was still sad.
Nico, el caracol, siempre llegaba el último al lago. Los ciervos y los conejos corrían para ver salir el sol. ¡Toc, toc, toc! Nico los miraba alejarse. —Ojalá tuviera patitas como ellos —suspiró. Luego miró su pancita. —Aunque… ¿me vería bonito con patitas? Sonrió un poquito, pero por dentro seguía triste.

Nico moved along the golden path, little by little. In the dirt, he spotted a tiny seed. “Good morning, little one,” Nico whispered. The seed did not answer. “You must be a little shy. See you later.” Nico smiled, but then he thought about the lake again. “Everyone will probably be gone when I get there.”
